hello, my name is Nancy
I am an American living in Poland for over thirty years now. God placed the Deaf community on my heart when I was a teenager at a youth group (MYF) where we signed worship songs for fun. I enjoyed this beautiful language so much that I started learning American Sign Language (ASL), then went on to University (Indiana University of PA (IUP)) to study Education for the Deaf. Here I learned not only sign language and how to teach the Deaf, but also I learned about the Deaf culture, which I have since come to love. During my studies I did part of my practice teaching in London, England, which gave me the opportunity to learn my second sign language (BSL), quite different from ASL. After living in Poland for about 20 years, I finally met Justyna (a beautiful, intelligent, generationally Deaf Christian) who started to teach me the proper Polish Sign Language (PJM), which at this time is my most fluent sign language. Currently, I am the director of the Deaf Ministry of the Pentecostal Church in Poland.
I firmly believe that God has sent me here to support the Deaf Christian community in sharing the Gospel Message with the Deaf by encouraging, training and inspiring them. My mission has also become to bring about Deaf awareness to Polish Protestant churches, though not exclusively. Sharing about everything God is doing among the Deaf, about His plans for them, and about how we can work together to do more is something I love to do.
I dream of the Deaf church growing strong and multiplying in Poland!
